A propos Sophie Witter

I am a health economist, working mainly on health financing in low and middle income countries. My interests include the overall design of national health financing systems as well as their assessment, reducing financial barriers to health care for users and setting provider incentives to provide high quality and effective care. I worked initially in transitional economies, later more in Africa (anglophone and francophone) and more recently in countries affected by crises and shocks. I like to mix technical advisory with research work, and in both use mixed methods, often within theory-based approaches. I am interested in getting evidence into practice - which pulls together my various previous jobs as development programme manager, analyst and journalist.
