Ejemai is a public health physician, certified Project Management Professional and a Health Systems & Policy Specialist. Having obtained his Medical Degree in Nigeria, he studied for an MSc in Public Health (Health Services Management) at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He works as a Senior Health Systems Specialist at the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics, National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Nigeria where he is involved in Primary Healthcare Policy Development, Monitoring & Evaluation of PHC interventions as well as disease surveillance and control (particularly Poliomyelitis and Measles). Presently a WHO Special Programme on Tropical Disease Research (TDR) PhD fellow in Implementation Science at the Wits School of Public Health, Johannesburg, his interests include applying implementation/ improvement science methods within the context of Health Policy and Systems Research, particularly as relates to evidence-based Primary Healthcare performance improvement in Low and Middle Income Countries.
