A propos Maureen Adudans

Community health enthusiast and passionate advocate! In my current position in the Eastern and Southern Africa UNICEF regional office, I work with the various country teams to strengthen and scale up integrated models for the delivery of essential services and interventions for mothers and children at community level. Our focus is to achieve Child Friendly Communities through approaches that are child-centered, follow the life-course approach, empower communities, have high-quality integrated multi-sectorial social services and that are accountable for results for children. Prior to joining UNICEF, I worked with the One Million Community Health Worker Campaign hosted by Columbia University. In this capacity, I led the Campaign's activities in Kenya, Uganda, Malawi and Tanzania, providing strategic leadership, advisory and technical support to country teams and supporting innovation, research and knowledge building. One of flagship initiatives stemming out of the Campaign's activities was the use of m-health technology to catalyze and transform the way CHWs work. I have a strong background in HIV prevention and reproductive health research and programming, having worked in various public medical, academic and research institutions. I hold a Master in Public Health Degree from the University of California Berkley, USA, a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from University of Nairobi, Kenya and a Certificate in Global Program Management and Leadership from University of Washington, USA.
