About Noël Nahounou

Noël brings over 20 years of experience in health systems strengthening. Primarily he worked as director of the health district level (health district of Guiglo, in the West of Cote d'Ivoire) for 12 years (1993-2005). During this period he was involved in the implementation of several reforms of the Ministry of Health including the establishment of health district development plan, the implementation of the system of reference and counter reference and the establishment of school health clubs for the fight against HIV/AIDS. He is currently Consultant in charge of health research and documentation to support decision-making at Cote d'Ivoire World Health Organization (WHO) office. Before joining the WHO, he worked for Abt Associates Côte d'Ivoire (HS 2020 and HFG projects) from June 2010 to May 2018; first as Senior Technical Advisor in charge of the implementation of the decentralization and the governance policies in the health sector and then as Chief Of Party (HFG), Cote d’Ivoire, from February 2nd, 2015 till the end of HFG project in May 2018. Before Abt Associates, he worked for Family Health International (FHI), Cote d'Ivoire, as technical advisor for the establishment of a referral and counter referral system and the implementation of the continuum of care for People Living With HIV. Noël is a Medical Doctor and graduated Master in Public Health, from the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Belgium.
