About Moazzam Ali

I started my career as physician then moved into public health. After earning Master’s and PhD in Public Health I taught for few years at Institute of International health, University of Tokyo, Japan. Currently I am based in Geneva as an Epidemiologist in Reproductive Health and Research, WHO. I have extensive experience in health care delivery and have designed, launched and managed health programs. In my current position, I design and manage clinical trials, and more recently I got interested in performance based financing projects with a focus in reproductive health, especially in family planning.

I am an Epidemiologist in Reproductive Health and Research at the WHO in Geneva. Until 2010 I was Assistant Professor, Global Health Policy at Institute of International health, University of Tokyo, Japan. I have broad experience in health care delivery and have designed, launched and managed successful health programs globally. My current role is designing and managing clinical trials, implementation research, research capacity strengthening with a focus on reproductive health (specially in family planning), health system strengthening and demand-side financing mechanisms. I have authored several publications on these topics. Prior to this, I worked with Population Service International based in Pakistan, where I was responsible for family planning and reproductive health program. Earlier in my career I was physician in internal medicine at a teaching hospital.
