Following the Government of Indonesia’s successful launch of Jaminan Kesehatan Nasional (JKN) in 2014, the single payer national health insurance system has made tremendous progress – most notably by extending coverage to over two thirds of the population. Indonesia now faces a range of choices on how to continue to further improve population coverage, efficiency in the use of health insurance funding, and quality, including increased opportunities to influence provider behavior via financial levers through more strategic purchasing. Key purchasing and governance arrangements under JKN will be presented, as well as current efforts to leverage improved purchasing arrangements to drive more effective service delivery, efficient provider behaviour and higher quality of care.

This webinar is part of the Collectivity webinar series on Governance for Strategic Purchasing planned throughout 2019. Collectivity is an online platform that facilitates the achievement of virtual collaborative projects with the objective to support collective learning. It is open to anyone curious, eager to learn and ready to get involved in a virtual exchange.

Governance is an overarching health systems function, which according to WHO's framework for action on strengthening health systems is about “ensuring strategic policy frameworks exist and are combined with effective oversight, coalition-building, regulation, attention to system-design and accountability”. Yet, governance of the purchasing of health services has received little attention in either research or policy practice, despite its importance. A working group comprised of policy makers, experts and researchers has come together on the collectivity online platform to foster collective learning and peer exchange around different aspects of governance for strategic purchasing https://www.thecollectivity.org/en/projects/65

Each webinar will present a country case and highlight a key aspect of the WHO framework to assess governance for strategic purchasing (to be published soon, a conference copy is available). The webinars will discuss various elements of strategic purchasing and explore how governance arrangements contribute to making purchasing more strategic.

Dear Tayebeh,

I am sorry to hear that you had difficulties connecting. Usually there should be an option to connect to webex without downloading the app. It might require some clicking through but eventually there should be the option to join through a browser.

We will be sharing materials related to the webinar soon on the Collectivity project page.

Please do not hesitate to let me know if you continue to encounter problems connecting to our webinars.

Best regards,

Aurélie
